Your Role at Prestone
This position is within our Auto division and is responsible for commissioning and installation of CAPEX projects and site continuous improvement. This role will report to our Plant Manager. This individual will be responsible for submitting projects and coming up with the costs associated with the project/managing capital spend. The individual will have a keen focus on project execution and providing recommendations or improvements to adhere to the budget. This person will Drive improvement in key functional metrics based on benchmarking to identify and share best practices. Travel approximately 5 to 10% at our other plant facilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates; preparing and justifying capital requests through project execution.
- Utilize project management tools and engineering discipline to define and implement solutions that meet project goals and objectives within budgeted timelines, costs and resources.
- Quickly assess current and desired state, developing solutions to meet clearly defined goals.
- Work closely with functional leaders to identify opportunities for improvement and leverage Lean Six Sigma methodology to drive manufacturing improvement.
- Participate in CI team meetings and share company-wide best practices, set the priorities for the business excellence and identify future projects.
- Develop budgets, cost analysis, track data and contribute to financial reviews on all CI projects and initiatives.
- Acts as a change agent to drive business strategies, supporting management/cross functional decisions by communicating the company-wide changes to team members; helping them to learn, understand, adjust and grow with the business's Lean Six Sigma approach. Act as the site CI SME to implement CI programs and initiatives.
- Support the Finance team to track the benefits from projects to ensure changes are sustained.
- Research and negotiate with vendors and third-party contractors to vet prospective projects, agree on timelines, establish agreements, and present multi-quote options and solutions to stakeholders.
- Plan and execute plant layout, process flow, and machine capability improvements.
- Identify and implement solutions for product yield loss reduction, step change increases in equipment availability and overall production line throughput focusing on disciplined management of change.
- KPIs (ROI, Project Timeline and Budget Adherence, Cost-Take-Out $, Revenue Impacted $, OEE)
- Identifies and leads subcontractors as needed
- Forge relationships with business partners throughout the site and organization. Communicate well and clearly, taking the time to understand manufacturing processes. Lead project update meetings, ensuring key stakeholders are updated and engaged throughout the life cycle of a project.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related degree or experience
- 5-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Black belt certified or equivalent training and experience.
- 5 to 10+ years of project management experience or project engineering experience
- Consumer packaged goods, filling, or similar manufacturing environment
- Capital Engineered Products Experience
- Equipment Specification and design
- Experience utilizing AutoCAD or similar design software CI Database.
- (Vorne) knowledge is an asset
- Team oriented; willingness to embrace input and seek solutions from multiple functional areas and work in a collaborative environment.
- Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Positive, solution-based approach to all research issues.
- Comfortable working with data to guide decision making through design of experiments
